NOW, Short Film

Written, Directed, and Starring Justin Zachary

NOW is Justin’s latest film, about a computer scientist in the near future who’s obsession with fixing things has taken him to a dark place.

“I originally wanted to tell a story about a guy who’s desperately seeking the approval of his father. What the story ended up becoming was a metaphor for how I felt at the time. I felt spoiled, entitled, and I was dead set on fixing the person I was in a relationship with. Of course, that’s absurd and it isn’t up to me to fix anybody. I felt it was my duty as a partner and lover. But, what I learned is that it isn’t my responsibility to fix anyone. Who am I to inflict what I think is right for someone else? What if that person doesn’t want to be fixed? Instead, what is it about myself that needs fixing?”

When I go to movies I generally want to be taken to another world.
— Darren Aronofsky

“Mexican - American Justin Zachary plays heroin addicted protagonist Mark Renton and delivers Trainspotting’s rapid fire dialogue in a thick Scottish brogue that has to be seen and heard to believe. He is reprising his role for the third time, and it’s no wonder why. It is a role he was born to play.”
